Geotechnical Laboratory

H. H. Holmes Testing Lab is one of the leading materials and soils testing laboratories in the country. We are a full service in-house laboratory that is equipped for conducting a multitude of geotechnical laboratory analyses. The soils encountered in the field during subsurface investigations are classified and logged by our drilling technicians. These soil samples are then returned to our laboratory for testing and evaluation. The testing performed in our lab provides increased knowledge of the site. All laboratory testing is performed by highly trained and experienced technicians. Following testing, results are reviewed by our on-staff Professional Engineer.

Our lab is fully accredited by AASHTO, AMRL and the US Army Corps of Engineers and is DOT QC/QA approved. All of our laboratory equipment is regularly calibrated and maintained in quality working condition.

The following are tests pertaining to geotechnical testing:

  • Atterberg Limits (ASTM D-4318)
  • CBR-IBR Optimum Moisture Content (ASTM D-1883)
